Ballyholme Primary School

Pinkertons Estate Agents has delivered four laptops to two local schools, Ballyholme Primary in Bangor and Castle Gardens in Newtownards.

Northern Ireland along with the UK are now in their third lockdown, with many of us facing the challenging reality of homeschooling our children. Many homes are lucky enough to have access to at least one PC or laptop; a testing enough experience if both children and parents are trying to share. For some, however, the challenge is much greater with children trying to work from a smart phone or simply with no access to any necessary equipment at all – placing a child’s right to receiving equal education to their classmates at a standstill and potentially widening the socio-economic gap in the future.

The Computers for Schools initiative, spearheaded by Stephen Brown, a leading Property industry figure, has the ultimate goal to raise £200,000 to provide desperate support to children and their families, enabling them to get online and access their home-schooling lessons during lockdown and that is why local Estate Agents Pinkertons, is committed to bridging this gap and in response donated a generous amount to the Computers for Schools initiative and delivered four new laptops to two local primary schools.

Victoria Pinkerton, Managing Director at Pinkertons commented

“Even prior to COVID-19 Pinkertons Estate Agents were offering assistance to local schools through our innovative Schools Project, but this moves our assistance to another level. By helping individual children in need rather than as a collective is instantly tangible and very humbling”.
